Chronic shoulder pain is a frequent condition that negatively impacts many aspects of life for millions of patients across the country. Beyond direct pain sensations, shoulder discomfort can negatively impact sleep and day-to-day quality of life by limiting physical function for patients creating challenges in all aspects of their lives.
Recently, Interventional Pain Medicine published a retrospective chart review of patients treated for shoulder pain with the SPRINT® PNS System. The publication, “A Single-Center Retrospective Chart Review of Percutaneous PNS for Treatment of Chronic Shoulder Pain”, reviewed the charts of sixty patients treated with SPRINT PNS.
The retrospective chart review found evidence supporting 60-day PNS as an effective treatment option for different sources of shoulder pain including osteoarthritis and post-surgical and post-traumatic shoulder pain. Further, Bimodal PNS® treatment was found to be a particularly promising option that utilizes a combination of sensory and motor stimulation paradigms. No adverse events were serious or unanticipated.
